A new year, a new Newslink and a new logo for MSA GB

Newslink Jan 2016When the MSA GB launched Newslink back in 1989, taking over from the previous MSA publication, News Journal, it was described by the then newly installed MSA GB chairman the late Ron Feltham as “Newslink, all shiny and new”. He went on to say that he had some input into the decision to the change of title and the style of the publication.

His naval background influenced many of his ideas; his options for a new title were probably something daft like ‘Splice the main brace’ or ‘Aye, aye, skipper’; thankfully, we did not pick anything as foolish as Aye Aye.

This change of Newslink to an A4 magazine-style reflects the current trend in professional publications, to be commentary and advice vehicles, rather than ‘newspapers’. The new design coincides with something else that’s new: the MSA GB logo, which you can at the top of this page.

old MSA logoIt mixes the old-style map (pre 2000) with the full initials of The Motor Schools Association of Great Britain (MSA GB) and moves from the somewhat old-fashioned red and green to a modern representation of the colours of Great Britain: red, white and blue.

MSA GB will continue to use the old-style logo alongside the new until such time as stocks of stationary are exhausted. MSA GB members can use the new logo straight away. Details of how to download the logo file and its colours are at www.msagb.com and can be located on the MEMBER DOWNLOADS menu.
