The Slovak Chamber of Driving Schools

The May EFA Delegates meeting was held at the Hotel Zochova chata, Bratislava, Slovakia. And was hosted by Mgr. Jaroslav PREKOP – Chairman of the Slovak Chamber of Driving Schools who started the meeting by welcoming delegates to Slovakia.

Following the formal opening of the meeting, approval of the agenda, confirmation of those entitled to vote and approval of the minutes of the EFA delegates meeting in Reykjavík (Iceland) delegates approved the Minimum Standards for Driving Schools developed at the EFA Special Meeting (Frankfurt) held earlier in the year.

Delegates debated further reports including, Disabled Driver Assessment Workshop, EFA – DODs EU Monitoring and an Extension arm system for motorcycle training.

Following Lunch Mgr. Tomáš Mésároš, project manager from the Ministry of Transport Slovakia provided a presentation about the Unified Information System for road transport in Slovakia. Manuel Picardi; EFA Vice President; presented information about the project Powered Two Wheelers (Safe2Wheelers).

Delegates heard a report about the CIECA Congress and EFA Vice President Cathy Bacon provided an Ecowill update

In the evening Dinner was at the Furmanka restaurant and we had the opportunity to taste traditional Slovak dishes and hear traditional Slovak music.

The next morning saw various presentations about information and developments in member countries including:

  • The Union of Auto Drivers whose President Vladimir Balla from the Republic of Moldova, appealed for assistance in deciding whether to issue an international driving permit for the members of their organization
  • A discussion around the concept of a European Theory Test presented by Frans Bastiaansen from BOVAG in the Netherlands.
  • The Driving test trial taking place in Great Britain presented by MSA GB chairman Peter Harvey MBE

Details of the EFA- Congress 2015 Driving Safety Forward being held in Scotland were confirmed and full details will be published in June.
